How to use Oral Console
After a website trial signup, log in to Oral Console and try DodoSpeak Oral as learner, publisher, manager, or developer.
Audience: Oral Console users · Applies to: Oral Console
Goal: Use your own trial tenant to speak, publish, manage the organization, and embed. Do not treat Console roles as production roles.
Oral Console has four identities: Learner / Publisher / Manager / Developer. The sign-in page does not pick a role. You enter as Manager. During trial you can switch in the header; after production + sign-in mint, learners and publishers cannot sign in to the Console. Console Manager is not the App Organization login.
What this is
Oral Console is the sample shell for DodoSpeak Oral (Embedded AI Speaking Module): the same embed capability, for speaking, publishing tasks, and copying mount code. After you self-serve on the website, you get an isolated sandbox tenant, not a shop shared with other trials.
It is not the school teaching App. App roles are in Three roles and entry points. Product overview: What is DodoSpeak Oral.
You can open the Console on desktop, tablet, or phone (a browser is enough). Phone bottom bar holds at most five items; the long tail goes into Settings or Home. iPad uses a drawer plus a right-side shortcut rail. Device requirements: Devices and access.
Sign-up and sign-in
- On the DodoSpeak website, open Start Oral Console trial (path follows the site; it is not the SaaS Start trial form). Enter expected learner scale (used later for plan suggestions; no auto-charge).
- After email verification, use the same credentials on the Oral Console sign-in page.
- Oral Console only signs in. This page no longer registers. Old
/signupbookmarks redirect to the website trial page.
After you open a tenant:
- One trial tenant per person (about 14 days, with quotas; UI wins).
- The sign-in page does not pick a role. You enter as Manager. During trial, switch Learner / Publisher / Developer in the header. After production + sign-in mint, learners and publishers cannot sign in to the Console; they enter from the school system (see Two formal embed methods).
- All four roles have Settings: appearance, language, cache. Learners can also change Speaking practice experience (default method, Talk live tab, auto-play, partner avatar). Manager and Developer can also set notification prefs and inbox retention. Desktop / iPad use the right-side gear; on phone, non-Manager identities also get a header gear.
- Do not ask for or forward shared demo accounts. Those are an internal showcase shop, which cannot register a card or subscribe. To try paid flow, self-serve an isolated trial tenant on the website. The 14-day teaching-product trial form is also the wrong door for Oral.
Default trial plan is Speak Exam (UI wins). UI language is changed only in Settings (简体 / 繁體 / English / 日本語).
Role and primary nav
| Role | Trial / production + widget | Production + sign-in mint | Primary (sidebar / phone bar) | Where the long tail goes | How-to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Learner | Can sign in (header switch) | Cannot sign in; enter from the school system | Home, Practice, Assignments, Exams (History if no exam plan), Me | History / Usage on Home or Me; Settings via gear | Learner: start speaking |
| Publisher | Can sign in (header switch) | Cannot sign in; enter from the school system | Home, Assignments, History, Usage, Me | Settings via gear | Publisher: publish tasks |
| Manager | Can sign in | Can sign in (header notice) | Home, Notifications, Usage, Settings, Me | Settings hub cards: roster → groups → team → Plans & billing → invoices → Organization profile → login logs | Manager: settings hub, billing, and roster |
| Developer | Can sign in | Can sign in (header notice; cannot switch to Learner / Publisher) | Home, How to embed, Notifications, Preview, Me | Product tier on Preview or Me; Settings via gear | Developer: how to embed |
Developers can still open the four surfaces from Preview to compare embed results; daily primary nav does not repeat learner / publisher menus.
Insufficient plan: the four entries stay; the API rejects. Role hides unrelated nav. A URL without capability returns home.
For Manager, Usage stays primary so the minute pool is easy to check. Billing, roster, and groups are not on the bottom bar. Notifications is its own page (platform announcements; billing / trial items go to Manager only). Do not look for the inbox inside Settings.
Roster issue, CSV import, and showcase card limits: Manager: settings hub, billing, and roster. Groups: Groups (classes).
