FAQ: Deploy and options
Choosing SaaS vs private deploy, what subscription means, and private go-live entry points.
Audience: Decision makers / IT / ops
How do I choose SaaS vs private deploy?
Need a fast trial and a full teaching product, platform-hosted → SaaS. Must stay in your own data center / dedicated cloud or need strong compliance → private deploy. Already have a system and only need embeddable speaking → DodoSpeak Oral. See SaaS, private deploy, and Oral and Choose Oral, SaaS, or private deploy.
Is Oral a kind of private deploy?
No. Private deploy is still the full teaching product. Oral is API + embed pages. Lab accounts and roles: FAQ: DodoSpeak Oral.
Where does private deploy start?
Start from Prepare before deploy; after install, read Super admin and platform capabilities, then First organization. For go-live, use Go-live checklist for business acceptance; data plans: How data comes in after go-live. Day-to-day teacher/student work matches SaaS—use the role guides.
How do Super admin and Organization admin differ?
Super admin owns this instance (capability-pack ceilings, Bootstrap, System register reconciliation, integration/email channels, and more). Organization admin owns this organization’s day-to-day teaching and policy. Details: Super admin and platform capabilities.
What do Bootstrap / System register / capability map each do?
- Bootstrap: instance seed and readiness
- System register: ENV vs DB reconciliation
- Capability map: capability packs vs speaking-capability ceilings
Entry tour: Super admin and platform capabilities; delivery order: Super admin workflow.
Is Super admin “Integration config” the same as Help Center “Data & integration”?
No. Super admin Integration config is instance-side data integration / email channels; day-to-day intake choices use Which intake method. After go-live: How data comes in after go-live.
Speaking works but the capability pack shows disabled?
Directory flags and speaking runtime can be out of sync—see FAQ: Product capabilities and config.
What does “SaaS subscription” mean?
It means paid formal use under platform hosting (vs trial)—not an email newsletter. See Glossary.
Where do I see trial skip rates / activation funnel?
Platform console DodoSpeak → Trial activation funnel. Organization admins only see per-skip rows in their org config logs; academic admins have no such page. See Trial activation funnel (platform).
What matters for production Voice identity?
- Organization side: turn on exam / practice voiceprint as needed in Settings and set the threshold. See Voice identity: how orgs enable it.
- Ops side: must connect a real speaker service and pass readiness checks (do not stop at a lab reference engine). Details stay outside Help Center—implementation / platform ops follow internal deploy docs. Checklist: Go-live checklist.
For private deploy, who owns org-built textbooks / exam banks?
The content provider (usually the customer org / ops) owns primary responsibility; review is publish fitness and policy confirmation, not legal endorsement. Confirm IP and indemnity clauses in the contract before go-live. See Private deploy: content and IP responsibility, Speaking textbooks and school exam banks.
