Student: Start speaking practice
Complete teacher tasks from To-do or choose content and a speaking method in Self practice.
student
Audience: Students · Applies to: SaaS / private
Goal: Complete one speaking practice. Check To-do for assignments; use Self practice for extra practice.
Before you start
- Sign in as a student.
- Allow microphone access when using voice.
- If a “Temporarily unable to practice” card appears, follow its instruction first.
Complete a teacher task
- Open Home or Speaking → To-do.
- Select Continue or choose a task from the list.
- The app opens Speaking tasks / Multi-party dialogue / Speaking exam.
- Choose an available speaking method, then tap Start session before you speak.
- AI feedback under the speaking dock shows tips for this turn; full history is in Records.
The practice mode and scenario are usually set by your teacher.
Practice on your own
- Open Speaking → Self practice.
- Choose a practice mode, then a scenario when needed (the list is filtered to your target language).
- Choose Talk live / Tap to talk / Review & send.
- Tap Start session, then speak. When finished, tap End session.
- Turn tips appear in AI feedback under the dock; review history in Records.
If self practice is not enabled, complete a teacher task or contact your teacher.
Placement before or after practice?
- Before (optional): If you are unsure of your speaking level, take Oral placement from Home or Me → Oral placement, then practice weak dimensions.
- After (optional): After 1–2 weeks or several practice sessions, retake from Me and compare progress.
- Full rhythm: Scenario: oral placement and practice loop; steps: Oral placement.
Three speaking methods
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Tap to talk | Tap to start speaking; tap Done in the voice panel to send |
| Review & send | Speak or type, review the text, then submit |
| Talk live | Tap Start talking and speak continuously while AI listens and replies |
Only one method is active at a time. See How to speak. If Settings still says Hold to talk, it is the same as Tap to talk on the stage.
Optional hints and rescue
If the org or task enables optional hints:
- A collapsed Keyword hints chip may appear; expand it to see usable words for this scene. Keywords follow the scenario’s target language (Japanese scenes use Japanese words), not the UI language.
- Tap Need a hint for direction, a sentence frame, usable words, or a model line (UI wins).
- If the policy is auto rescue when stuck, choices appear after a long pause; pick one and speak again.
- After a hint or light feedback, Retry this line may be available (usually not counted as a new turn).
- Formal exams often freeze hints; follow the exam UI.
Oral embed practice can show the same hints (Oral Console speaking policy).
