Manager: settings hub, billing, and roster

Oral Console’s default identity is Manager. Primary tabs are Home / Notifications / Usage / Settings / Me. Roster, groups, and billing live on settings-hub cards.

Audience: Oral Console manager users · Applies to: Oral Console

Goal: This is the default role after sign-in. Tell settings hub / Usage / Notifications / Me apart; issue or import learners. Do not treat Console Manager as the App teaching back office.

Sign-in and the four roles: How to use Oral Console. Console Manager is not the App Organization item in Three roles and entry points.

Before you start

  • You have opened an Oral Console trial on the website and signed in.
  • The sign-in page does not pick a role; you enter as Manager. If the header currently shows Learner / Publisher / Developer, switch back.

Where in the UI

Primary (sidebar / phone bottom bar): Home / Notifications / Usage / Settings / Me. Home’s primary button still often points to Plans & billing (UI wins). The header has a notification bell.

Open Settings. Organization ops is a hub of cards (not a list of setting rows), in this order:

  1. Learner roster — import learners, invite sign-in, issue learner codes, archive
  2. Groups (classes) — put learners into groups for assigning work; see Groups (classes)
  3. Manage team — invite publishers and developers
  4. Plans & billing — trial activation, plans, and usage purchases
  5. Invoices — invoices, top-up orders, and settlement account
  6. Organization profile — display name, target language, and embed method
  7. Login event logs — this console’s sign-in events for troubleshooting

The same Settings page also has workbench prefs (appearance, language, notification switches), speaking policy, and ops (inbox retention, cache). Usage is not inside Settings; it is a primary tab.

Leaf pages (roster, invoices, and so on) have Back to settings at the top.

What each entry does

EntryWhat it doesCan edit org config
Organization profileCompany display name, target language, embed method (page widget or sign-in mint)Yes (these fields only)
Learner rosterAdd, CSV / JSON import, issue learner codes, invite sign-in, archiveThe roster itself; not the display name
Groups (classes)Group roster learnersGroups, not roster master data
Manage teamInvite publishers / developersMembers, not Organization profile
Plans & billingRegister a card, subscribe 50-seat packs, top up; top of page is a read-only org previewNo (link to Organization profile)
InvoicesInvoices, top-up orders, settlement accountNo
UsageTenant minute pool and per-person allocationAllocation lives on Usage
NotificationsPlatform announcements plus billing, trial, and org statusNo
MeSign-in email, role; change-password dialog, sign out; trial can switch rolesNo

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Organization profile. Confirm display name, target language, and embed method (page widget or sign-in mint). Trial can switch; production locks this account. If you need both methods, open a second Oral organization account. See Two formal embed methods.
  2. Open Settings → Learner roster: for a few people, add in the UI and issue a learner code (the full code is shown only at create time); for dozens or more, CSV / JSON import (preview first, then write; email is required; existing learners update by email and do not rotate codes).
  3. The roster supports pagination, select this page, single delete / batch delete. After delete, the learner code stops working (Oral practice history is not deleted).
  4. To assign by class, go to Groups (classes).
  5. Production + sign-in mint: roster and groups become read-only lookup (delete / archive still allowed). You cannot issue codes or change members. New learners are identified by mint after school sign-in. See Two formal embed methods.
  6. Open Plans & billing and subscribe or top up at the suggested pack count (a showcase shop cannot register a card; you need an isolated trial tenant). If sign-in mint is already selected, production lock will confirm the Console boundary again.
  7. When needed, open Usage for the tenant pool and per-person allocation (Usage time (minutes)).
  8. Change password from Me in a dialog. Appearance and language live in Settings workbench prefs.

Widget embed requires a roster learner first. See Two formal embeds: page widget and sign-in mint.

Mapping to production

The Console manager pages are for trying learner packs, embed method, roster, and minute-pool subscription. Your production product does not need an Oral “Manager” role; accounts and permissions stay in your system. This page is not an embeddable teaching back office.

How to confirm success

  • Primary nav shows Home, Notifications, Usage, Settings, and Me.
  • The settings hub can open roster, Organization profile, and Plans & billing.
  • The roster can issue a learner code or finish one import preview (full code once).
  • An isolated trial tenant can open Plans & billing; a showcase shop warns that cards cannot be registered.
